Yes, you read that right. I am in fact an Olympian and I do in fact have a gold medal to prove it. Don't believe me? You should. So, I'm not an not an Olympian competing in the Olympics for the USA. But, I am an Olympian at work. If you didn't know by now, I work for Red Bull. Red Bull is a great company to work for and has some cool benefits. One of the programs is called Fit for Flight (FFF). It's all about healthy living and an active lifestyle (right up my alley - except when I want to eat all the things after a long bike ride or run). I was asked to be an alternate on the Fit for Flight Olympics team for RBDC (the branch of Red Bull I work for - distribution, RBDC = Red Bull Distribution Company). I said yes and figured I would wind up just cheering for the team (fine with me, training for Vineman is ramping up and I don't want to get injured).

Well, the week of the FFF Olympics I got a call from our team captain asking me if I would be able to be on the team as an active member as one of our teammates couldn't make it. I said yes right away. None of the events seemed too crazy. I mean really, what could happen? We call this foreshadowing. I stayed at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica on Tuesday night (the traffic can be a nightmare heading from the Valley to the westside in the morning and since there was already a room reserved for our teammate who couldn't make it, I took it). The hotel was pretty nice. I had a good room with two queen beds, bed was very comfy, with nice squishy pillows. Flat screen TV, desk, in room fridge. My view was nothing special, the building next door, but I'm not complaining. The staff at the hotel were really nice too and the lobby was pretty.

The final event was the POS Challenge. Basically this was building and setting up a specific display for a store. First team done would win. This was our event. If we lost this it would be bad. We work in distribution, our teams do this all the time. Our captain divided us up and we got the thing built in about 4 minutes, and won easily. It took every other team more than twice as long to finish. And, ours looked the best in the end, definitely store worthy. We won! We won a gold medal! (See, I told you I was a gold medal winning Olympian! And you didn't believe me...)

Note: I got home from work and had my first delivery of fresh fruits/veggies. All of it was so good and so fresh, I'm so glad I decided to start doing this. Also of note, my foot appears to be fine now.
