Training for Alaska

This is a short one...

Saturday was my first practice with Team in Training for the Summer season, in preparation for the Alaska Mayor's Marathon (I've been with TNT for the previous three seasons, the first as a participant, the second as a mentor, and then I started a third season as a participant but had to transfer to the Alaska season because of my knee injury).  I think its going to be a really fun season.  I'm excited to start all over again.

We ran 2 miles, not much, but it was good to go out with the team and meet some new people.  We had a running and walking clinic with the coaches.  Coach Chuck from the Long Beach team came out and showed us the proper walking technique (which I already pretty much knew from my previous seasons with the team from Coach Becka).  It was good to hear it all over again though, and I took a couple of walk breaks in our 2 mile run to work on my walking form/technique.  And, our coaches (Melissa and Tony) showed us a running technique, I've been taught running technique before, but I've never really paid attention to it before.

I feel like this is my opportunity to start working on my form and improve my speed.  I'm excited to be starting over.  I think this is going to be a really fun season and I'm super excited to be training for Alaska.

To make a donation or read about why I joined Team in Training check out my fundraising website (every dollar helps us get a little closer to a cure for blood cancer, so please consider donating, even if its just a few dollars):
